02.08.09 the warmth of the sun

so last night i went to bed pretty early considering it was a Saturday night.
I was pretty much tossing and turning all night. It has been pretty much tossing and turning every night since i moved here. Not sure why but i keep waking up in the middle of the night, probably about 3 times a night. But any who, this morning i wake up to the blazing sun rising. It is pretty early at this point so i just curl myself back into bed and fall asleep again until i really have to wake up for church. I am thinking about an hour later i start to sweat a little but and wake up and am blinded by the sun shining thru the blinds. I am obviously pissed that i am sweating but then i think to myself... OMG it is actually warm outside? I open the window and low and behold.... the weather is light jacket weather... got sooo excited that i got ready for church and walkout with just a small fleece jacket.
After church i walk to Acme (supermarket) and get some food.... food i obviously did not need and then walk to the Vietnamese supermarket for some fruit, that i obviously did need. When i get home i notice that Jessica had called me to come out for some coffee and gossip at B2. I am always in for some gossip, so i head over to hear the gossip and judge a little. I get there and Jessica and Danielle are sitting at the very back corner of the cafe and i order an everything bagel with cream cheese and sit down with the girls. They tell me about their crazy night last night and are upset that i did not come out. Which was going to a sobriety party in a white limo, ditching some friends in neons outfits, skinny girls talking about how fat they are, and having a rondevu in a very very old bar in Olde City. But this gossip did not last for long cuz the girls got distracted from...ummm... pretty much every single boy that walked into the cafe. It didn't help that i was facing the wall and the girls were facing the door. Just my luck. Well, long story short, the girls went crazy for about 30 minutes about who ugly their girlfriends were and how they need to be dating those boys, and some dirtiness in between that can not be blogged about.

02.07.09 directtv scam

so.....i thought this was pretty noteworthy.
today i had an eye appointment at 10:30am. I got all ready and opened the front door to see a direct TV guy right there..... I about just died for that second cuz i had no idea who the f it was. then he explains that he is with direct TV and asks for Matt my roommate. So i go back into the house and yell for Matt who was still sleeping. go figure..... well when i went to go yell for him, the two guys from direct TV just walk right in after me... which i thought was weird... well after Matt comes down i bolt and head for my appointment.
I walked to my appointment, it took about 15 minutes to get there. I get to the store and i have to knock to tell them to buzz me in.... i know i know what you are all thinking.... ghetto!!!, but this is where i live now :( Well, i get in and these two south Philly ladies start to speak very loudly and proceed talk my head off..... but am i scared off....nope.... i start to yap yap yap my mouth off. about what you may ask.... well... about my nerdy glasses, which the ladies say that is soooo in right now..... i am sooo stylish. hahahah, they especially loved the tape on sides.... but it totally not to look cool it is to keep my glasses in tact. SERIOUSLY! i try but i don't try that hard! well any who, i go into the back room and get my eyes checked and here, they optometrist asks what i do for a living and i told her i work for urban and she tells me that she went to school with Meg-who is one of the owners and the founder of free people!!! craziness.... all in all, we talked about how she wants to design and how she loves interior designing and how i want a hobby besides sewing all the damn time.... and that i want to do something else besides design in the future..... i really do..... i love love love design....but at the current moment... i want to have other interests besides this.... i might do some artwork to keep myself busy... but am not gonna buy any supplies. I am just gonna use found objects and items i already have... we will see how it goes. wish me luck!!!!!
After the exam, she tells me my left eye drifts to the left a little when i look straight ahead.... GREAT NOW I HAVE A LAZY EYE! :( wait... i think that is awesome! ehheheheheh well with this great news, i leave with a new prescription, the left eye a bit stronger of a prescription and the right eye the same.. Whoooooorahhhhhhhh! The grand total, $45 but i wanted to but lenses in my vintage frames it would cost $100, but i told the ladies my sister (thu) is an optometrist and she will put the lenses in for me for free!! heheheh GREAT JOB THU! i lie like there is no tomorrow here! I am a monster! that's why my name is KIM here hahahhahahah
So i leave and walk back up Broad st. which is a main street in Philly. So on the way back up Broad i decide to go into the Philly free library and see if they have any dvds. And just my luck they have DVDs, i apply for a card and get 3 dvds to talk for the next 7 days! awesome!
So i finally get home and Matt is still there and he tells me that what happened with the Directtv guys. He said that since they can not drill into the roofs anymore b/c of leakage problems, they have to build a small platform to put the box on that will cost an extra $100 cash, and that is the only solution. But then the guys say that he can call Directtv and negotiate the price. So he then agrees to the small platform and the guys ask where the closest home depot is. WTF So he tells them where it is and they go off and buy the supplies.... So at the point... he is really annoyed and calls directTV where he finds out that these two guys have been scamming him. Well at this point i am scared for him when the guys come back to the house, he will be all alone to tell them to go away cuz he called DirectTV and found out they were scamming him. But did i feel bad for long, well, no i left about 5 minutes later to hang out with some girlfriends from work. huh...
So a few of the girls from work and i decide to rent a Philly car share for about 6 hours to do some errands, go thrifting and go to a craft fair. Obviously i got tons of stuff i did not need, here is what i bought thrifting......

other little tidbits about today.... well.... i made another scandalous top. it was originally a top, then a high waisted skirt and now a slutty top. photos maybe later.... it has to be on to show everyone its awesomeness! ha
i also realized that i can never be beyonce. 'tear' why you say.... well at work after an interesting conversation with Courtney and Whitney i decided to be snappy and snap my head side to side but i ended up just swaying my upper body in a circle. ummm.... yeah.... and then right after that i tried to snap my fingers and swing my hand down at the same time... umm.. no dice... :( soo lame... but this experiment burned about 10 calories and i shed a few dozen tears. hehehehhe

1.28.09 blah

so today i woke up to snow! i mean it snowed a few weeks before but this is actually interesting. Cuz today there about 5+ inches of snow on the ground. So walking in the snow was quite interesting. i pretty much had to be walking like i was in the army or something....
but back to the blah. today Pruitt the free people blogger came around the office and took some candid photos of everyone and posted them up on the Internet.
this is a photo of my boss Alex and the girl to left behind her is Courtney the design assistant and me? well, i am to the right of her, do you see me? look to the bottom right, you see my feet? well that is me. But overall today was very uneventful, i just worked a little and got tired and was just hanging out. Not so good 2 months into the job ya know.

1.11.09 my boots hurt

when i have the weekends off i tend to wake up about the same time i usually wake up for work. Today i woke up about the same time. But i ended up just laying in bed until 9:30am until i really had to get up to get ready for church. If i were at home i would have gone to the 8:30 service and then after that i would have been off to the swap meet to see what treasure i could find. Here in Philly, I really can't do that. NO car and everything here is either closed on Sundays or does not open until noon. Why? it is a day of rest but seriously I am a bit bored on Sundays with nothing to do.
I head off to church and when mass was almost over I noticed one of the old men wearing a really amazing sweater. I wanted to take a photo of him so bad but obviously being in the church and it being totally rude..... wait... why am i thinking about stuff for work at church? wtf! urgh! so i obviously did not take a photo of it, i will try to describe it, it was a long slv, crew neck, the top portion was a cream color, in the middle of the sweater was an image of an eagle with its wings spread, and the lower half of the sweater was black. then the back of the shirt it was the same as the front but there was only an outline of the eagle. Lets just say i was jealous of it. I really wanted it. I love old man style! After service i usually walk past a coffee shop named 'B2'. Kathy and i went there last week and it was really cute. So i went there again today to try their hot white chocolate. I have never had hot white chocolate, i was too nervous to try something new last week but this was the week to try it. It was way too cold not to get anything. I took one sip of it and about died! I immediately texted Kathy to dish about my new fav hot chocolate. I head home and make myself some eggs and chat with matt for a bit and then i went off to explore more of east philly.
I walked down passyunk, then east on Washington and then up 5th st to go to the fabric store that was closed yesterday. I was a bit scared walking down 5th st cuz it looked like i was walking thru the projects a bit. I was the only one on the street. I get there, and that was a bust, only found glue! Then walked to south street to go to pearls art and supply and got tape, another bust! then walked even further east on south st until i got to front street, so i proceed to walk down front street to see how far i could walk. I walked all the way past Washington, past Dickinson, and to Oregon and decided to walk back to go the jo-mar (a fabric store that the girls at fp like to go to). I have so much fun walking around fabric stores i never know what i find. It is amazing! I ended up finding a lot of remnants of fabric and a few for work. At this point my heels start to hurt and irritate me a bit. So i decide my exploration is over for the day. So i walk back up front street to Dickinson and walk toward my house. On the way home i decided to get myself a treat, being it uber uber freezing, i picked up some ice cream for myself and chips. I mean if i walk for about 3 hours, i need to get myself a treat right? right!

So at home, i try to finish my sexy dress and then get side tracked my looking up some new music. For some reason i looked up the Detroit bar in Costa mesa to see who is playing. I miss that place, they sometimes have some really great local music. So then i discover 'Mothers Sons' CHECK THEM OUT! http://www.myspace.com/motherssonsband I really like them so i try to buy their ep but they are not equipped for MP3's yet. WHY? so i decide to buy their cd instead from an online store. I fill out all the info and hit check out and see that shipping is $5! WTF shipping costs the same as the CD, I immediately back out of the purchase and then text BFF and tell her she needs to go and get me this cd! If she really loves me then she will got get it for me! hehehehehehhe I have an addiction! I need to stop buying music!

1.10.09 I am a thug!

So today did not start off so good for me. I did not really get any sleep whatsoever the night before. Just could not sleep. So I got up at like 7 am to take a shower and just hung around the house until things opened up in center city. I first go to I. Goldberg on chestnut- it is an army/navy surplus store. Then went to sleepys to buy a bed, but everything was super expensive! So i then proceed to walk back down to south Philly and remember there is a thrift store that i did not go into yet. It is a Philly Aids thrift store. It was about 12 and they were just putting stuff out in the street so i walked past it and went into a fabric store across the street for a while and then PNC (my local bank) to deposit a check. Then about an hour later i head back to the thrift store and look around a bit. It was a bit pricey but not bad. Then i notice a guy looking at me. He looked harmless so i just smiled and went on my way. Then he walks by me and says to me, you have really nice shoes, it matches the store. I then smile and say thanks and walk away, my signature move! :) so i leave and walk across the street where they is another thrift store that just sells furniture. It looked more like a big garage filled with junk.... oh wait... that is a thrift store. Well anywho.. I am looking around and i am about 1/4 thru the store and i step back and i bump into this woman- we will call her crazy #1. I apologize and mind my own business while she walks past me to go check out the rest of the store. The entire store only has one walk way so I was behind her the entire time. She kept looking back and i kept minding my own business. After Crazy #1 gets to the end of the store she proceeds to walk back out. Then i proceed to walk out cuz the end of the store is just junk. But crazy #1 stops half way in the middle of the store and turns around and looks at me and mummers 'stop following me.' I look at her and say excuse me? and she says again 'stop following me.' I try to tell her i am not following her and then she jolts her head back and says go! go! go! i walk past her and burst out laughing! OMG! Someone was terrified of me? So you all out there better watch out for the little asian girl! I am gonna get you! hehehhehehahahahhahahehhehehahahahah

1.06.08 o no he di'n't

so..... how do i start this off...
Some of you may not know this, but I have a guy landlord. A really nice guy, we get a long fine. Only thing is that he does not have a lock on the bathroom door. I thought i was weird, so i asked the other girl that use to live there and asked her about it. and she said that the door does not lock. So i was like... umm.... okay sure
Well, today after work i get home and reheat my fried rice and have dinner and chat with Matt. Then we go our separate ways. About 45 minutes later, i need to go #2. So i go the restroom and close the door. I thought the common rule i the house was that if the door is closed in the restroom someone is in there. Well i heard someone coming up the stairs and then the restroom door opens 1/4 of the way and in am my glory i say 'uh hi!' and he says ' oh i'm sorry' and the door closes. So i get the hell out of there, performance issues, i am my dad's daughter but damn! NO F****ing way! So i get out of the restroom and proceed to embarrass myself even further by telling Kathy and Thu and now the whole entire world what happened. Thank you and good night kiddies.

1.02.09 great start to the new year

okay by popular demand! meaning from two people! you know who you are! I have to tell this story....
So i got a new roommate. The other girl roommate-we'll call her 22- moved out cuz her parents got her a place closer to center city where it is a bit safer and closer to her boyfriend. So my landlord found a new roommate-we'll call her 29. I did not get to meet her before she moved in, i mean two girls can totally live in peace in the same house right? anywho. back to the story.
I went to NYC for New Years Eve and had a really great time, and spent new years day in Manhattan shopping at places where i should not have been anyways! The next day i took the train back to Philly cuz i had to work! Lame yes! But being the newbie, i had to, it was my civic duty. So powered my only 7 hours of sleep in 2 1/2 days, i set off to work on the train.
But i got really exciting news from Kathy, she decided to spend the weekend in Philly with me! My first visitor! She took the Megabus for $20 round trip. She got there around 11:30 am and walked around center city while i worked. Later in the day she was to meet me at my work so that i could show her around.
It was just another day at work, but my boss left early so that she could pack for her vaca to San Fran. She left about noon. So it was pretty much just me and the other newbie Whitney in our department. Around 3 pm my friend Jess came around and asked if i wanted a ride home. Of course i said yes to a free ride and save $1.25 on a token. So Whitney and I left work pretty early, when we should not have. But we did anyways with an quick email to the boss telling her that we had left early! Better safe than sorry! I am always sorry! When i try to be safe, i am always sorry!
Anyways I tell kathy to meet me off the tasker/morris exit, but i get a ride basically to the corner of my street. SO with my cellphone in my ear talking to Kathy and my house keys in the other to drop of my bags at the house, i start to walk down my street. I walk 1/3 of the way and i think to myself, i walked too far, and i look at the address of the house and yes i did walk too far. So i look back up the street and i get confused and have a really confused look on my face...... i know you all can imagine this! I walk back up a few paces and I look at my house, but i don't realize it is my house and there is girl at the front door that i have never seen before. So i get even more confused, and with Kathy on the phone getting confused from my directions to my place. So i pace back and forth a couple more times, getting more and more confused. Then finally the girl that was at my door walks pass me-but i don't realize that she was at my door and asks me, um excuse me, 'are you lost?' and i reply, 'no i am not, i am just really retarded right now, i live on this street, and say thank you!' I tell Kathy i will call her back and I finally find my house.
Obviously i tell Kathy what happened, and she just looked at me at me with a blank face that tells me that i am retarded!
The weekend was just a relaxing weekend, just two girls hanging out and drinking a bit too much with the roommates. Well, then sunday hits, and the night before i made spring rolls and we end up having it again for lunch the next day. So it is Kathy, Matt and I at the dining table eating lunch when the front door swings open. Being the amazing person that I am, i get up and introduce myself. We shake hands and she says, didn't we meet on friday in the street and i asked you if you were lost. At this point i go from being delighted to mortified! Then Kathy started to laugh and makes me tell Matt the entire story. They all laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh. Obviously I am embarrassed by what happened but wtf! I can't do 3 things at once, only one thing at a time. Don't try this at home kinds! The end!

Okay, so here it is. My 1st post in Philadelphia, PA.
I have struggled in vain, I will struggle no more. I have decided to make this blog a photo blog of things I see in Philly with bacon bits of my fabulous humor. I know I know, you all love my amazing writing skills but I can't really write about my everyday oppsies..... I can actually but I am seriously really boring!
